The Orchard Veil explores the relationship between transformation and preservation. Painted orange slices appear suspended within translucent fabric, so the body and the photographed fruit remain visible through one another.
Formed through whole cloth draping, the textile keeps its original selvedge instead of disguising the limits of the fabric, treating cloth as a complete material with its own history before it becomes clothing. Orchard rows are planted, pruned and picked by people whose work is rarely written down. Like the archive, and like the citrus at the centre of the collection, the fabric is transformed by human hands without losing the evidence of where it began.
